Customer Installations: Real Lighting in Surrey, Berkshire & Hampshire Homes

These are real customer installations supplied by Illuminations of Camberley and photographed in homes across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. We have kept the examples grouped by room so you can compare proportion, drop, finish and visual impact in lived-in spaces rather than relying on manufacturer photography alone.

The photographs are the evidence on this page. Where we do not have a recorded room measurement, fitting model or installation dimension, we do not invent one. Instead, the notes below explain what can genuinely be observed from each installation and what that means when choosing a fitting for a similar space.

Staircases, Landings & Vaulted Ceilings

These customer photographs show several different ways of using vertical space: a ribbon-style spiral pendant in a vaulted stairwell, a group of wire-cage globes beneath a skylight, and a faceted-glass cluster cascading through a stairwell.

What this shows: in a tall space, the fitting has to be judged from more than one viewpoint. Shape, overall depth and where the light sits within the void matter as much as diameter. For the detailed planning principles, see How to Light High Ceilings and Stairwells.

Bedrooms

Both bedroom examples use decorative fittings that remain relatively close to the ceiling: one curved gold LED form and one geometric gold flush fitting in a loft bedroom.

What this shows: a low-profile fitting can still create a strong ceiling focal point. In bedrooms and loft rooms, preserving headroom often matters more than adding drop. Our Low Ceiling Lighting guide explains the flush, semi-flush and short-drop options in more detail.

Living & Dining Rooms

The living and dining photographs include a brass multi-arm chandelier with amber glass, an open-plan room using several different decorative fittings, a fabric drum pendant and statement table lamps.

What this shows: one fitting does not have to do every job. In an open-plan room, separate decorative lights can help define dining and seating zones while lamps provide a lower layer of light. That is the same principle covered in our Layered Lighting guide.

Kitchens & Dining Islands

These installations show three different approaches: three amber glass globes over an island, a clustered black-and-gold ball pendant over a dining table beneath a skylight, and a gold glass-rod drum chandelier above a table.

What this shows: there is no universal rule that an island must have three pendants or that a dining table must have one central chandelier. The right arrangement depends on fitting size, furniture proportions, ceiling height and sightlines. Home Offices & Studies

This Berkshire study uses a chrome sputnik-style flush ceiling fitting rather than a plain utility light.

What this shows: practical rooms can still carry decorative lighting. A compact fitting can add character without hanging into the working space below.

Dressing Rooms & Walk-in Wardrobes

The final installation shows a crystal drum chandelier above a mirrored walk-in dressing room.

What this shows: reflective finishes and mirrors can multiply the visual effect of crystal and polished surfaces. This is exactly the kind of material response that is difficult to judge from a flat product photograph.

What to bring us for a similar project

If one of these rooms is close to what you are trying to light, bring photographs of your own room plus the ceiling height and the main furniture dimensions. For an island or dining table, include its length and width. For a stairwell, include photographs from both levels if possible. Those details let us compare proportion and drop before you commit to a fitting.
