Choosing decorative lighting is easier when the room, furniture, ceiling height and electrical positions are considered together. Illuminations of Camberley offers free, no-obligation showroom lighting-planning help for a single room, a renovation or a larger home project.

This is practical product and layout guidance from an experienced decorative-lighting team. It is not an architectural lighting-design contract, electrical design service or installation service. Fixed wiring, circuit design and installation should be agreed with the appropriate qualified electrician.

What can we help you plan?

We can help compare suitable chandeliers, pendants, flush fittings, wall lights, table and floor lamps; consider scale and adjustable drop; discuss layers of ambient, task and decorative light; compare lamp types, lumens and colour temperature; and identify questions to take back to your electrician.

One room, renovation or whole-home conversation

You do not need a large project to ask for help. Bring one difficult hallway, an island pendant decision or a complete set of renovation plans. We work with different budgets and order sizes, and the conversation remains free and without obligation.

What should I bring to the showroom?

Bring photographs of the room, ceiling height, floor dimensions, key furniture measurements, electrical-point positions and any plans or elevations available. For a dining table or kitchen island, include its length and width. Fabric, paint, flooring or worktop samples can help when comparing finishes under real light.

Also note what is not working now: a dark reading corner, reflections on a screen, a fitting that feels too large, or light that looks too cool. Tell us when you use the room, which furniture positions are fixed, your approximate budget and any installation deadline. If you plan to keep a dimmer, bring its make and model if already known; a photograph of its visible front can help.

A simple room brief to prepare

Make a note for each room: what you do there; room and furniture dimensions; ceiling height; existing lighting positions; what you want to improve; finishes you like; budget; and timescale. Mark anything you have not measured yet. For a pendant, use our sizing and overall-drop guide to check which dimensions matter before choosing.

When should lighting be discussed during a renovation?

The earlier the better where ceiling points, wall-light positions, switching or LED strip feeds may change. Decorative fittings can be chosen later, but the electrical positions that support them are much easier to plan before walls and ceilings are finished. Read our new-build and renovation lighting guide for a room-by-room checklist.

Can interior designers and contractors use the service?

Yes. Interior designers, contractors and homeowners can bring plans, schedules or product references to the showroom. We can help source decorative lighting from the brands we work with, compare finishes and dimensions, and identify products suitable for the intended space and budget.

Why plan in the showroom?

Scale, glass, crystal, metallic finishes and colour temperature are difficult to judge from photographs. In the showroom you can compare fittings switched on, see how materials respond to light and discuss whether a product's real dimensions suit the room before ordering.

How the process works

1. Send photographs, plans or a short project description through our contact form, or bring them into the showroom. 2. We review the rooms, measurements, style and budget with you. 3. We identify suitable lighting types and products to compare. 4. You decide what, if anything, you would like to order. There is no obligation.
