Choosing a chandelier is not just about finding something attractive. The style needs to work with the room, the ceiling height, the furniture and the mood you want to create. In our Camberley showroom, customers often arrive thinking they want one style and leave preferring another once they see both switched on at full scale.

Crystal chandeliers: sparkle and ceremony

Crystal is the obvious choice when you want sparkle and a sense of occasion. It works especially well in dining rooms, hallways, stairwells and more formal living spaces. The key is to see the crystal lit: the movement, reflections and shadows are what give a crystal chandelier its character, and those are difficult to judge from a product photograph.

Glass chandeliers: lighter and more versatile

Glass can give you presence without the formality of full crystal. Clear, smoked, amber or textured glass changes the mood considerably. Glass also works well in contemporary and transitional interiors because it can feel decorative without becoming visually heavy.

Contemporary chandeliers: sculpture as well as light

Modern chandeliers often use rings, ribbons, clusters, metal frames or integrated LED forms rather than traditional arms and drops. They suit cleaner interiors, open-plan rooms and spaces where the fitting needs to act almost like a piece of sculpture.

Traditional chandeliers: warmth and proportion

Multi-arm chandeliers in brass, bronze and similar finishes remain a strong choice for period homes, dining rooms and rooms with architectural detail. They can also work in newer homes when the rest of the scheme is deliberately classic rather than minimal.

Match the chandelier to the room, not just the style
